Do I need an account or membership?
The initial free version does not require an account and does not offer membership purchases or auto-renewing subscriptions. If a later version introduces paid features, its product page and purchase screen will explain them.
Where are my journals stored? Are they synced?
Journals and drafts are stored on your device. The app does not currently provide its own automatic cross-device journal synchronization. Apple device backup and Photos synchronization depend on your system settings.
Exporting a PNG or PDF preserves the appearance, but is not a complete editable journal backup. Keep important exports in a location you control. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data can remove local originals.
Can I use the app offline?
Previously downloaded and cached resources may remain available offline. Browsing new templates, downloading missing stickers or backgrounds, and reloading online images after a cache cleanup need a working network connection.
Templates or stickers are not loading. What should I try?
- Confirm that the device is online and that the app is allowed to use Wi-Fi or cellular data in system Settings.
- Return to the app and use Retry where it is shown. Switching between Wi-Fi and cellular can help identify a network problem.
- If the issue continues, email us with your app version, device model, approximate time, and a screenshot of the error. Do not uninstall the app as a first troubleshooting step.
I can’t choose a photo or save an export to Photos.
Open iOS/iPadOS Settings and review Photos access for Hibi Journal. The photo picker may work with selected photos only; saving an exported page requires the appropriate add-to-Photos permission. Also check available device storage and try again.
You can still use ordinary editing features if you decline a photo-related permission.
How do I export a page or notebook?
Open the editor’s export menu, select the current page or the available page range, then choose PNG or PDF. PNG can be saved to Photos; PDF uses the system share sheet for saving or sharing. Video export is available from the notebook browsing flow where shown.
A layout JSON file may contain text, layout information, and asset references. It is not a full device backup, and should only be shared with a recipient you trust.
Does Storage management delete my journals?
Storage cleanup keeps saved journals, drafts, recovery copies, and personal images used by those records. It can remove downloaded online images and unused files. Online images that were removed need to be downloaded again, and may not appear while offline.
Deleting a journal or notebook is a separate action. Read its confirmation carefully.
A recent edit or journal seems to be missing.
Check the unfinished drafts on the home page and reopen the relevant notebook. The app writes recovery drafts while you edit, but an abrupt termination can still lose changes after the last completed write.
Keep the app installed and avoid clearing its data. Contact us with the actions that led to the problem. We cannot retrieve a journal from a developer cloud account because this version does not have one.
Does the app upload my writing or photos?
We do not upload journal writing or personal photos for usage analytics or crash diagnosis. Firebase Analytics receives feature events, installation identifiers, and technical information; Crashlytics receives crash and error diagnostics. Download requests, files you choose to share, and system backups have separate data paths.

What should I include in a bug report?
Include the app version, device model and iOS/iPadOS version, steps to reproduce, what you expected, and what happened. A screenshot or short recording can help if you are comfortable sharing it.
Please hide private journal content, faces, email addresses, or other personal details. Never send your Apple ID password.
